I have always loved dancing! I took my first ballet class when I was 5 years old, I came out to my mom and she said “How was it? Did you make any new friends?” And I said ” Mom, I’m not here to make friends I am here to learn how to dance!” Haha! I am pleased to say that I have not kept that mindset and have made many wonderful friends.
For 11 years I have loved being a part of the FOA. I took a break from dance for a while but I was still always up there watching the dancers and helping with costumes until I started taking classes again.
I have been in several productions at the FOA including several years of the Nutcracker and the summer musicals. It’s all more than a hobby, it’s a part of my life, and the people there are family; they are kind and supportive and I am so blessed to be a part of it all.
I am so thankful to my parents for letting me take classes and do shows. They have had to drive me and buy me everything, what they do is such a blessing.
I have had many years of great training in ballet, jazz and now tap and lyrical. Being a senior is bitter sweet, but I know I will still be around. That is the type of place the FOA is, the people touch your lives and once you get involved you will never want to leave. The FOA has changed my me for the better, and I can’t imagine life without it. I have made many friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. I love the FOA!
